What Is an Accounting Journal Used for In Business

What Is an Accounting Journal Used for In BusinessWhat Is an Accounting Journal Used for In BusinessNew geschftlicher umgang owners and aspiring entrepreneurs wont get far in business without understanding what an accounting journal is and why its so fundamentally important to success. Youll need an accounting journal for day-to-day operations, for budgeting, and- of course- for tax purposes. And youll need to keep track of all those things as soon as you open your doors to clients or customers and begin engaging in commerce. Recording Financial Transactions of Your Business An accounting journal is just what it sounds like- its a place to record the details of all the financial transactions of your business. And it keeps a record as to which of your accounts these transactions affect. In accounting terms,a journal refers to a financial record kept in the form of a book, spreadsheet, or accounting software. It contains all the recorded financial transaction information about a bus iness. Its also known as abook of first entry. Keeping an accounting journal can prevent your business from overspending in some areas while underspending in others. It can also prevent you (and your executives) from overdrawing funds, and it can help you spot any irregularities before they get out of hand. In short, although its just a simple book or a computer spreadsheet, an accounting journal can prevent a potential crisis from starting or spreading. Before computers, an accounting journal was a physical log book with multiple columns to record financial transactions for a company. Today, most businesses use sometype of financial accounting software to record and manage their business transactions. These transactions are then assigned to a specific ledger class using a chart of accounts number to prepare profit and loss statements, financial statements, and other important financial reports. How to Create an Accounting Journal An accounting journal is created by entering inf ormation from receipts, sales tickets, cash register tapes, invoices, and other data sources that show financial transactions that have occurred- including returned, damaged or stolen inventory. Business transactions should be presented in the journal in chronological order. Entries are initially recorded using thedouble-entry methodor the single-entry methodof bookkeeping.Typically, although transactions are basically entered in the order in which they occur, debts are entered in their own order, before credits are entered. You dont have to stick to this format, but everyone who recordsin the journal should adhere to the same agreed-upon guidelines to prevent confusion. Each listed transaction is referred to as a journal entry.Information from the journal is then recorded in the businessledgers. Getting Started If you havent already started your business, think about which individuals in your company you want to have access to your accounting journal. Obviously, it should only be people you trust and individuals with designated financial or management roles within your organization. This is definitely a situation where less is more and it might mean only granting access to your chief financial officer or treasurer, or- in a simpler organization- you and your bookkeeper. Although you dont want too many individuals to have access to your accounting journal, its also a bad idea to let just one person have oversight of it. A select few should know the contents of the journal to prevent any inappropriate spending or budget shortfalls from wreaking havoc on your companys finances.

How To Boost Employee Morale And Engagement In Summer

How To Boost Employee Morale And Engagement In Summer How To Boost Employee Morale And Engagement In Summer How To Boost Employee Morale And Engagement In Summer Ann Hewlett Extreme jobs have become the norm. Every company now faces enormous hurdles, whether its on Wall Street, in the media or in small businesses. Regardless the sector, employees face elements of extremity with unpredictable workloads, large amounts of travel, fast-paced work with tight deadlines and an inordinate scope of responsibility that amounts to more than one job. The summer months require special attention so that employees can take critical time to rest and renew. The slower pace of summer is one of the best times for your top employees to recover from burnout and brown out (mentally checking out while continuing to put in hours) and re-engage at work. Giving employees the chance to have a break, to totally disconnect from the office, to really have a true vacation without phone calls, is a crucial part to maintaining the high level of performance companies expect from their employees. Summer Fridays 2.0 The traditional summertime work model has everyone working for the three or two and a half day weekend that is provided by Summer Fridays. Yet few businesses can afford to shut down on Friday afternoons. But warm weather and memories of school summer vacation have even the most extreme worker tuning out come Thursday. As an alternative, consider Summer Fridays 2.0: team members rotate their half or full day off to any day of the week. After all, not everyone in the office needs to check out on the same day. Any day can give an employee the time he or she needs to regenerate. Perhaps Monday would be a better day for some employees, while another really needs to swap a Friday for a Thursday. With a little planning and forethought it can happen. One possible positive side effect: employees are tremendously empowered by choosing their own day and owning their schedule. Creative flexibility will build loyalty and productivity. Particularly now as family vacations are underway, managers can work on a system to help employees coordinate their vacation times effectively to ensure full coverage at the office. The 2.0 model can also serve as a pilot for a broader flexible work schedule. Those teams that are not taking advantage of flex work policies should be encouraged to use it as a test run for remote working and for building a teams competency in covering for one another. Cultivating Camaraderie and Loyalty When it comes to employee engagement, managers have a huge impact on worker satisfaction. Employees report a much greater sense of loyalty to their individual managers and colleagues than they do to their companies or firms. Manager interventions can both build bonds and foster camaraderie. Managers can set a positive tone in the office that generates productivity, camaraderie and loyalty, most often through their own behavior. Here are a few suggestions that can be initiated during the slower summer months: Schedule gym breaks. Find time for this by coordinating among team members so that clients and projects are always covered. Set up a workout in the park. Take your team out: Invite them to lunch (even if everyone brown bags), to a gathering in your home, or to a drink after work. Interactions outside the office help employees step outside the pressures and stresses they are facing and leads to much more honest conversation. Keep communication regular and frequent. Walk around the office more and informally check-in; schedule regular team debriefs. Work with your staff so that they and you can make the most of the summer season. Giving employees the flexibility they need to recharge will only take a few hours out of the workweek, and will reap the rewards of healthier employees and better-functioning workplaces. You can start by leading by example. Author Bio Sylvia Ann Hewlett is an economist and the founding president of the Center for Work-Life Policy (CWLP), a non-profit think tank.

What College Career Services Offices Do

What College Career Services Offices Do What College Career Services Offices Do Most, if not all, college students share the same goal. Upon completing their degrees, if not going on to attain even higher levels of education, they want to pursue careers. Most colleges and universities have a career services office, which may be alternatively called a career center, career placement office, or career office. Regardless of the name, this office provides a variety of services to help students (and often alumni) meet that goal. Here are some basic services you can expect from your colleges career services office. If you are shopping around for a college, you may want to make sure yours provides these services. Career Decision Making A counselor at the career services office can help you choose a career, whether you have no idea about what you want to do or are leaning toward a particular occupation. He or she will use self-assessment tools to examine your values, personality, interests, and abilities and then, based on the results, either suggest some possible options or help you figure out if the career you have in mind is suitable for you. The career counselor also will help you decide what academic major will help you meet your goals. Resume and Cover Letter Writing Career services offices help students write their resumes and cover letters. They often conduct workshops and provide one-on-one sessions during which they critique resumes and cover letters. Job Interview Prep Career services offices usually sponsor workshops to help you learn how to present yourself well in a job interview, from what to wear, to what questions to expect. They sometimes provide mock interviewing sessions where you can practice your skills. Mock interviews can go a very long way to making you feel prepared for real interviews, and will at least help you feel a bit less nervous. Recruiting Career services offices host job fairs during which employers visit the campus to recruit students who are about to graduate. The offices sometimes maintain student files containing letters of recommendation from faculty, which they can then forward to potential employers and graduate schools upon the students request. Students can access a colleges career management system or job portal to look at employment and internship listings, register for workshops and schedule appointments with counselors and on-campus recruiters. They can also upload resumes into a searchable database which employers can then use to recruit applicants. Career services offices may help undergraduate students decide whether graduate school is a viable option based on their career aspirations and their performance in college. They can assist students in choosing an appropriate program. Networking Career services also should be able to help you find networking events, where you can connect with professionals in your potential career. Alumni, especially, want to help students connect with opportunities and are willing to provide advice and possible connections to those making the hiring decisions at their companies. Internships While theres probably a separate office that handles internships, career counseling centers often work hand-in-hand with companies seeking college interns and internship advisers. It cant hurt to ask about any potential internship opportunities.

Americans would give up 29% percent of their current salary for this

Americans would give up 29% percent of their current salary for this Americans would give up 29% percent of their current salary for this A new nationwide survey conducted by OnePoll and commissioned by the staffing services and solutions firm, K-Force, questioned 2,000 fulltime office-working  Americans across all industries to get a gauge of how satisfied the average professional is with their current place of employment.Follow Ladders on Flipboard!Follow Ladders’ magazines on Flipboard covering Happiness, Productivity, Job Satisfaction, Neuroscience, and more!Good not greatIn conflict with frequent reports about the plague of work dissatisfaction, the majority of respondents in Onepoll’s study graded their job with a solid B-; several factors inform this ranking. When it comes to day to day tasks, most respondents determined that their  current job earned a B (85%), additionally, employees graded their work-life balance, company morale, and benefits package all with a B- (81%).There’s a slight disparity  in work satisfaction between male and female workers. Fifty-eight percent of men said that they love their current office job, but only 47% of women echoed this. This feeds into an even more interesting  statistic which states that half of the American workers surveyed would take a pay cut to pursue a career that is more harmonious with their passion. It seems that most Americans seem to agree with the sentiment behind this decision  even though not all of them are willing to make the leap. Sixty-seven percent of US workers said that loving the work you do is essential.  The group of Americans  that were willing to take a pay cut  for their dream job said they would give up as much as 29% of their current salary. An animated  display  of passion can sometimes yield monetary benefits, however. According to Ryan Lynch, client executive  over at K-Force, enthusiasm is just as valuable to some recruiters as it is to job seekers. Lynch writes, “Employers are willing to make sacrifices for someone who’s passionate about their work. Some clients will pay more for a standout candidate  or hir e someone without having a defined job opening.”The average  US worker is confident that their  dream job is only five years away. Sixty-two percent believe their dream job is achievable within the firm they’re presently working at.The roadblocksSo what keeps so many Americans from awarding their current job with an A? Resume Objective Section The complete guide with 50+ Examples

Resume Objective Section The complete guide with 50+ Examples Resume Objective Section The complete guide with 50+ Examples “You know, I was told that my resume statement is going to be the game-changer if I want that internship. I’ve spent this last week just working on the Objective section.” “Huh? Is that so? How is it turning out?” “I think I nailed it.” “Really? Why do you think that?” He fumbled for words. Maybe that week could have been spent doing something else after all. “I highlighted all my achievements right on the top so they know what they’re up against. I got this, it should be a breeze.” Yep. That week could have been spent doing something else. I did not have the heart to tell him the truth. As a former HR who spent years scanning resumes for a living, I did not need him to elaborate further to get to reach the conclusion that no buddy, it won’t be a breeze. It will be anything but that. So where did he go wrong? Isn’t this what you do too? Highlight all your achievements so they know ‘what they are up against’? Well, yes. And no. Before we go further, let’s take a step back and try to understand the bigger picture. Our 2019 Guide to the Resume Objective Section will broadly cover the following topics: If you want to directly go and build your resume, you can use our online resume builder. What is the Resume Objective Statement? On the face of it, a resume objective is just supposed to highlight all your work experience till date. Right? So why not just begin with all the places where you worked and what all you did in each profile? That should be enough to crack the deal and get you that coveted shortlist, right? Well, not quite. We often advise people to resolve all their resume objective-related doubts by placing themselves in the shoes of the recruiter. If I am an HR swarmed with hundreds and thousands of resumes containing ONLY work profiles, I’d get a brain aneurysm. For sure. And this is where the Objective section comes in. A particular job vacancy will only attract that particular category of resumes. A Sales Associate vacancy, for instance, will only call for applicants who have an acumen and experience in Sales. A hundred resumes responding to that vacancy will contain hundreds of work profiles ALL around Sales. So as an HR, how do you filter through all these profiles? An Objective or Professional Summary section on top of all these work profiles will give a bird’s-eye view of the applicant’s career trajectory till date. The HR won’t have to peruse through details of the entire Sales experience to reach the conclusion. A broad-level summary of key skills gathered in the course of the applicant’s career will do the job. In addition to all the work experience till date, an HR has to also understand the motivation of the employee who’s responding to the vacancy. For any organization’s long term sustenance, it’s of critical importance that the motivation of all the individual employees is aligned with the motivation of the organization itself. Nothing makes an HR more anxious than an employee whose motivation they don’t know. Is the applicant looking for just another Sales job? Is career growth a priority for him/her? Do they intend to stay in Sales for the next 2 years? 5 years? All these questions are considered and tackled in the recruitment process of each applicant. Since you know these questions are critical to the HR in general and the recruitment process in particular, you can go ahead and utilize the Objective section to provide clarity on all these issues. You can use choose from many good resume objectives in our online resume builder to create your resume objective section. Do you really need the Resume Objective Statement? What’s the point of asking this question if we’ve already established the importance of this section, you ask? To the acquaintance earlier who said he had spend a week on the resume objective section, and to other job-seekers who are trying to find their footing in the job market, we like to misappropriate a JFK quote along the lines of: “Ask not what the organization can do for you but what you can do for the organization.” It’s that simple. If I’m an HR parsing through a hundred odd resumes a day, scanning a blanket list of all the things that people are looking for doesn’t do me any good, does it? And if out of those hundred odd resumes, I see someone who can demonstrate how s/he will be of value to me, instead of the other way round, then that applicant will stick out of the rest like a unicorn carrying a briefcase. If only there was a way to link all your existing achievements with what the organization is looking for… If only there was a way to only use 4-5 lines on top, like everyone else, and still manage to come out shining on the other side In fact, there is. It’s called the Professional Summary section. But how to tell which one would better suit your requirements? The question now becomes: do you need a Resume Objective statement or a Professional Summary Section? If you think you need a resume objective section, you can use our online resume builder to create your resume. Objective or Summary? Like we had earlier established, letting the recruiter know how you plan to add value to the organization, instead of listing out a bunch of things you are looking for, will get you more shortlists. In majority of the cases, a Professional Summary section will triumph the Resume Objective statement. Unless: You are a fresher In that case, you don’t really have any significant or concrete list of achievements under your belt. You cannot fool the recruiter here, and it becomes evident that you are still testing the waters. Hence, an Objective section would make more sense here. Even then, do some research on your end and try to identify the background of the organization you are targeting - find out what their values are, what their mission statement is, how they plan to achieve their targets in the coming 1, 5 or 10 years. You’ll easily find all the relevant information on the website itself, if you know how to look for it. Since you’ll only get one shot of getting shortlisted, it’s better if you are doing everything you possibly can to maximize your chances. On the other hand, the fact that you don’t have any professional accomplishments certainly does not mean you’ll go rambling on. Our suggestion in that case is to keep your Objective resume section concise and targeted and strictly in accordance with what the company is looking for (based on the research you did from your end) You’re covering up a long gap You can have any personal or professional reason for not being an active member of the workforce for a particular period of time. The question is, how do you not let it impact your job search now? People usually try to mask the gaps in their professional career by going for a functional resume instead of a conventional chronological one. In our experience, that is a hit-and-miss. Surely you can’t hide it from your employer forever - sooner or later, at some stage of the recruitment or post-joining process, the fact is going to reveal itself. We understand the relevance of a functional resume, but going for the same because you want to hide your career gaps in not a wise way to go. In such a case, you can be honest from the get go and crisply state your intentions in the Objective for resume section. No need to beat around the bush for something which will inevitably make itself clear. In the resume objective section, you can highlight all your previous accomplishment under the shadow of what the recruiter is looking for. If the reason is genuine enough and the employer feels that there’s no malice or misappropriation from your end, the gap itself will not be a hindrance. It’s only an obstacle if you let it to be. You are shifting careers/industries This last case is evident. We frequently come across people who have spent their lives in a particular industry only to realize they want a switch to a completely different sector. We come across freshers who spent a major chunk finishing certifications and degrees, only to realize that they’d rather do something completely different. Which is perfectly alright. But this peculiar situation demands a certain level of dexterity from your end. You can’t adopt a conventional Professional Summary approach wherein you are highlighting your achievements - simply because those achievements are now in the past and hold no relevance to the sector/industry which you are now targeting. In contrast, a concise Objective for resume section in this case will help you bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to go. Your earlier accomplishment won’t hold any meaning in case you can’t link it to your targeted industry. Hence, go for a Resume Objective stataement wherein you are outrightly honest with your intentions. In the long run, this approach will yield far greater dividends than any other. Other than these 3 exceptions, we highly recommend that you ditch the Resume Objective section for a Professional Summary section. 5 Common Resume objective Statement mistakes The Summary section is NOT your Cover Letter A cover letter is a different game altogether. It’s a separate document that you send along with your resume. But of course you know that, don’t you? What we mean here is the basic idea behind the two. It’s imperative that you comprehend the objective and the premise of the Summary section and the Cover Letter, because very often, we see the Summary section containing points which would be better suited in a Cover Letter. A cover letter is written for a particular job profile within a company. You begin the same with a very brief background of yourself as a professional and the exact profile for which you are sending the resume. You spend a couple of paragraphs (max!) detailing your previous work profiles while keeping it highly restricted as per the requirements of the job. No need to elaborate each work profile - that’s the job of the resume. You close the cover letter with the last paragraph talking about the organization itself. Do some research to understand the values, mission statement, programs, etc. that the company engages in and try to link it with your own experience. And done. The Summary section, on the other hand, will only contain what all broad-level skills you managed to acquire in your career till date, and how those skills will add value to the organization. You won’t be mentioning individual companies or quantifiable achievements (reserve that for the relevant work profile section down below). You can keep it either in short bulleted points or a short paragraph, but in any case, make sure it doesn’t exceed 4-5 lines. Don’t dump all your achievements We understand that you are quite proud of your Sales targets or a program you developed that enabled an unprecedented level of cost savings. Be that as it may, try to restrain yourself from going overboard in this section. We’ve seen people list out their sales targets for multiple years in the Resume Objective section itself. In case you really are a stud who served multi-billion dollar brands or generated multi-million dollar sales, you can probably mention that once (once!) to make sure you don’t come across as a pompous ass who’ll be a nightmare for other team members. We recommend that you reserve all your significant achievements for the relevant work profile, or have a separate Key Achievements section in itself. But the Summary section is not the place to do that. This is the section where you portray yourself as an essentially humble professional who’ll not only gel with others in the organization, but by the virtue of all your past achievements (without listing them here), will only take the organization to greater heights. Keep it concise Even though we mentioned throughout this article, we felt it was critical to have this as a separate point here. This is a common mistake we often come across, more particularly in professionals with 10+ years of experience, or with IT professionals who assume that their resume will be scanned by another IT professional. (Just so we are clear, it won’t. This goes for all the techies [not just IT] out there who info-dump their resume objective statements with so many jargons, they forget that it’s a Generalist HR who’ll eventually go through your resume (after it has been successfully parsed by the ATS of course). A tech-heavy resume objective, contrary to popular belief, will not make you look fly. If at all you can’t avoid all the jargons, at least spare a thought for the HR (and, um, your own future) and extend those points to include the quantifiable impact you managed to achieve for the organization. That will pull your resume out of a strictly technical domain into something which actually benefits the organization) Don’t have a 5-page resume wherein the first page is dedicated to the resume objective section. That’s suicide. Have a crisp 5-line summary with minimal jargons or numbers. Leave the specifics for the work profiles and the rest of the resume. The job of the Summary section is to pull the recruiter further into your resume, not drive them away to the next applicant. Show, don’t tell This is a golden rule which holds true for each and every section of the resume, and more so for the resume Objective statement. You know what’s better than mentioning that you possess leadership skills or are good at negotiation (like hundreds of other applicants who are applying for that same profile)? Demonstrating that you actually possess those skills. Show how you led teams to achieve organizational goals, show how your negotiation skills led to significant cost savings, show how you optimized processes and boosted organizational performance across the board. Substantiating your claims with facts and figures will do 10x more than merely mentioning the same. The resume objective examples at the end of this article will further elucidate this point. Any HR worth his/her salt can smell generic, mere space-filling points from a mile afar. Go the extra mile and validate your points with quantifiable data. Just this one simple change will automatically boost your chances and place you above the rest. Customization is the key If the exponential rise of job boards and forums did anything, it was to make it easier for applying to jobs. That could have been a good thing, but it’s not. Are you also not guilty of uploading your resume just once on a portal and blindly sending it to anyone and everyone? We understand the desperation of seeking ideal jobs and doing everything in your power to turn around your luck, but honestly, the above approach actually hurts your chances of getting a shortlist. And guess what? HRs can see that in an instant. Simply on the basis of a resume objective, they can figure out whether an applicant sent that same resume to a dozen other companies or whether the applicant carefully went through multiple JDs to finally zero in on that profile. Which is why, customization is the key to unlocking those doors which seem that they are perennially shut only for you. Spending 15-20 minutes on your resume objective and tailoring it to the JD/organization which you are targeting will do wonders for you, trust us. How to go about it, you may ask? Your basic work profiles and achievements will remain the same. A simple option which you can do is to upload the JD on any of the word clouds available online. They process the text and give you a list of the words used therein on the basis of how frequently they show up in the document. Say, after generating the word cloud, you find that ‘process optimization’ appears 7 times in the JD. Which means that the skill is in high demand in the mind of the recruiter. Which means you can accordingly rephrase your resume (more specifically, your Key Skills resume objective sections) to include this phrase wherever relevant. Note that ‘wherever relevant’ is the key. Any monkey with a keyboard can stuff his/her resume objective statement with keywords, and both the HRs and ATS are well equipped to smell that from a mile away. Incorporate only those keywords and skills which you can confidently substantiate if given the chance during the interview. How to Send and Stop LinkedIn Invitations and Messages

How to Send and Stop LinkedIn Invitations and Messages How to Send and Stop LinkedIn Invitations and Messages LinkedIn makes it very easy to message others on the site to ask them to join your network, to request job or career advice, or to ask them to write you a recommendation. However, while it is easy to send messages, they should still be well-written and professional. Below are a few guidelines to remember when writing a message on LinkedIn. Guidelines for Sending LinkedIn Invitations and Messages Salutation: When composing a message to a current contact, format your message like a professional email. Include a salutation; if you are on a first-name basis with the person, you can use their first name. Otherwise, use their title (Dear Mr./Ms./Dr. XYZ). Self-Introduction: If you are messaging a contact, the understanding is that you already know one another. However, if you connected with this contact a long time ago, and are worried they do not remember you, you can certainly begin your email with a brief re-introduction (I cannot believe it has been over a year since we attended XYZ Conference together). Enforce Your Willingness to Help: If you are messaging someone to ask for a favor (a recommendation, job advice, etc.), be sure to announce your willingness to help them as well (e.g. I would be more than happy to write you a recommendation as well.). When you do something for a contact on LinkedIn, they are far more likely to do something for you. One great way to get help is to start by writing a LinkedIn recommendation. Giving to get works really well and if youve offered an unsolicited reference, youll be at an advantage when you need assistance. Thank You: If you are messaging someone to ask for a favor, be sure to say thank you towards the end of your message. If they complete the favor for you, be sure to follow-up quickly with a thank-you message. Dont Overdo It Dont take advantage of your network. Be judicious about who you ask for help and how often you request assistance. Also, be careful about who you ask for help if you are currently employed. Dont send a mass mailing to a lengthy list of connections. Instead, be selective about who you ask for help and take the time personalize your request. Tips for Sending LinkedIn Invitations to Connect Personalize Invitations to Connect: When sending a connection request, LinkedIn provides the generic message, Id like to add you to my professional network. Never use this message on its own; instead, personalize each request. Below are a few guidelines for writing an invitation to connect. Introduction: Begin with a self-introduction if you do not already know the person. Why You Would Like to Connect: Explain why you want to be contacts with the person; perhaps you read an interesting article they posted, you both work for similar companies, etc. If you would like to connect because you want career advice, you can include this in your invitation. However, do not directly ask for a job or for a recommendation until the person has accepted your invitation. Mutual Benefits: Emphasize how the potential contact could benefit from your connection. Something as simple as, Please let me know if I can be of any help, will show the person the potential benefit of being your contact. Say Thank You: Always end by saying Thank you. Follow-up: If the person does not respond in about a month, you can send one more request. After that, it is best to stop. Some people simply keep a small list of close contacts. What Not to Do When Sending a LinkedIn Message Don’t Send a Generic Message: You’ve deleted LinkedIn’s canned language in your message request … but you’ve replaced it with your own template, which you use for all invitations. Insert buzzer noise here. Just as you wouldn’t send the same cover letter with every job application, you shouldn’t send the same message with every invitation to connect. Personalize your invitation, and you’ll increase your chances of getting a response. Don’t Ask for More Than You’re Prepared to Give: Not ready to recommend this person, either because you’re too busy or you don’t know them in person? Don’t ask them for a recommendation. It’s that simple. Don’t Stalk: Once you’ve sent your initial message and followed up once without a response, let it go. Repeatedly sending messages won’t convince them to connect with you just the opposite. Don’t Treat LinkedIn as a Dating Site: Hopefully this goes without saying, but we’ll say it anyway: LinkedIn is not Tinder or Match. No matter how much you like someone’s head shot, or feel that their professional experience indicates that you two are soulmates, LinkedIn is not the place to forge a love connection. How to Send a LinkedIn Message Heres how to send messages to your connections: Go to your Messaging page or directly to your connection’s Profile. From your connection’s Profile, click the Message button, and then type your message in the space provided. From the Messaging page, click the Compose icon, and then type in the recipient’s name. You can message up to 50 contacts at a time. Are you tired of all the email you get from LinkedIn? The site will send you an email for just about everything - whats happening with your connections, group messages, invitations, updates and more - if you arent careful about your settings. If youre getting too much email from LinkedIn, you can adjust your settings to limit or stop the volume of email you are receiving. Its easy to cut back on the volume of messages you get from LinkedIn. With just a few steps, you can eliminate almost all the email you get. How to Turn Off or Reduce the Messages You Get From LinkedIn Heres how to stop or reduce LinkedIn emails: Click on Privacy Settings (under your profile picture in the right corner of the desktop page)  Click on Communications   You will now be able to change the following options: Email frequencyWho can send you invitationsMessages from membersGroup invitationsGroup notificationsParticipate in researchPartner InMail Click on each option to change your email and communication settings. Each section contains different options for personalizing when and how you receive emails of that type. For example, if you click on Email frequency, you can choose which types of emails from Connection invitations to Jobs and Opportunities you would and would not like to receive. Where to View Messages You can quickly edit your settings to reduce the volume of email you get from LinkedIn to a manageable amount. Even if you do turn off most email messages, youll still be able to view them in your inbox, which has sections for Invitations and Messages from other LinkedIn users.
